Printing services
When it comes to spreading information to a large number of people, no other medium is more popular than print. The printing services sector has seen massive growth over the years and is still growing at a steady rate even in the present. Today it can address almost any requirement of the customers associated with printing and its supplementary requirements.
With the invention of the world’s first printing press by Gutenberg in the–00′s, mass printing services in the form of relief printing evolved into a standard industrial service. A slight projection of the printed matter from the background, like in a rubber stamp, is a key feature of relief printing. Nowadays relief printing is not as widely practiced and has very limited uses.
Printing methods have changed radically down the years, and these changes have been driven by introduction of latest technologies. Modern printing techniques are quite varied and come to a variety of uses. In fact, most clients now feel puzzled with the printing options available in the market.
One of the most well known printing techniques in the industry today is offset printing. In this method, the image is transmitted onto paper from a metal plate on which the image is first printed by the use of small amount of ink. This inexpensive and fast method of printing is highly favored and used when mass printing is required.
Other popular forms of printing that have evolved over time are electrostatic printing, which can be compared to photocopying, and thermal printing, which creates the print impression by heating coated thermal paper in select areas.
However, digital printing is the newest printing method that is getting a lot of attention. As the name indicates, in this method, images are digitally created on a computer, which are then checked for correctness and are then printed. This mode is quick and error free, but is appropriate usually for limited prints. As this method allows each print to be modified it has resulted in some novel uses like computer form printing, where documents like invoices and receipts are printed on a fixed layout but with varying contents for each customer.
Printing services took another dimension when the world wide web started becoming popular. Printing companies have their own websites that customers can use from right inside their homes or offices and place orders after seeing online printing samples.
Technological innovations have always brought about significant positive changes in printing methods and the quality of the output. The good news is that this trend of change is going to continue unabated in the future as well, bringing positive advancements to enhance performance and lower costs.
